First Church Embraces the ‘Bridges to the Future’ Campaign
First Church loves a challenge! First Church loves an opportunity to share Jesus’ love with others! The ‘Bridges to the Future’ campaign includes both of these.
Bridges take us from where we are to where we want to go. Our Kansas West Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church has embarked on a visionary capital
campaign to provide a much needed update to several of our ministry facilities. This capital campaign will focus on three primary areas.
Camping: Throughout the years, continuous use at camping and retreat sites has taken a toll. Coupled with deferred maintenance and repairs, it now is essential these facilities be put in a proper state of repair, making these sites for ministry more effective.
Campus Ministries: Many of our campus ministries have no place to call home. They are housed in inadequate quarters, which limit programs and deter student participation.
Church Growth and Revitalization: Church growth, revitalization and Hispanic ministries need funding to establish new churches and revitalize existing congregations.
In May of 2007 our annual conference adopted a 4.2 million dollar goal to address the above needs in a systematic way. In November of 2007 our Church Council committed to be a ‘tithe’ partner of this campaign. This amount is equal to $56,000 to be paid over a five year period.
During the month of April we will be sharing more information in our worship services and Sunday School classes as to the specifics of the program and how each one of us can be involved.
Thank you for helping our church make a difference for years to come!
